Description
The REDARC Smart Start® SBI12D is a microprocessor-controlled battery disconnect switch used in a dual battery system. It is intended for use in dual battery systems as a magnetic priority system to protect the starting battery from excessive discharge. The SBI12D delivers 12 volts DC with a continuous output of 100 A.
Dual sensing
The dual sensing model is used to isolate the starting and auxiliary batteries in a system where the auxiliary battery is also powered by an external source, such as a battery. B. solar cells or an external AC battery charger can be charged. With the SBI12D, the starting battery can also be charged from the external source as soon as the additional battery reaches 13.2 volts. This is useful for charging the starter battery.
Energy saving technology
The Smart Start SBI12D has electronic components that prevent the solenoid from generating high voltage transients. It is better than a diode battery disconnect switch because the voltage drop is lower with diode insulation. It features advanced fault detection and an LED power indicator that warns the user of faults such as over-voltage, brown-out and excessive current draw.
The Smart Start SBI is primarily used in four-wheel drive and commercial vehicles and is a safe way to charge an additional battery. It should often be installed together with a quality fuse kit.
