The REDARC Smart Start® SBI212D is a microprocessor-controlled dual-battery disconnect switch used in dual-battery systems. It is designed as a solenoid-priority system to protect the starter battery from over-discharge while simultaneously supplying power to the auxiliary battery for non-essential loads. The SBI212D delivers 12 volts DC with a continuous current of 200 A and is designed for extremely demanding applications.
Dual sensors
The model with dual sensors has the additional feature of being able to charge in both directions, allowing the auxiliary battery to be charged via an external source such as solar panels or an external AC battery charger. The SBI212D also allows the starter battery to be charged via the external source once the auxiliary battery reaches 13.2 volts.
Energy-saving technology
The Smart Start SBI212D contains electronic components that prevent the solenoid valve from generating high voltage spikes. It is superior to a diode battery isolator because diode isolators experience voltage drop. It features sophisticated fault detection and an LED operating indicator to warn the user of errors such as overvoltage, voltage drop, and excessive current draw.
The Smart Start SBI is primarily used in all-wheel drive and commercial vehicles and is a safe method for charging an auxiliary battery. It should be installed together with a fuse kit.
