The Safari SS177HF snorkel for the Isuzu D-MAX/MU-X RG is designed to direct a large volume of the coolest, cleanest air into the standard air filter assembly of the 3.0L diesel engine from 2020 onwards. Given the enormous airflow of the Isuzu D-MAX from 2020 onwards and the MU-X 3.0L diesel from 06/2021 onwards, Safari decided to develop a snorkel system that raises the air intake to prevent harmful elements from entering the vehicle's air filter.
A tremendous airflow is just one aspect of the ultimate snorkel design. The Safari snorkel air intake serves two very important functions. The most obvious is to direct cool, clean air into the snorkel body – but equally important is that the Safari air piston acts as a highly efficient water separator to remove rainwater from the incoming airflow – thus ensuring safe engine operation even in the fiercest tropical storms.
